(Robinson) Pooler
September 14, 1945 – March 16, 2022
SALEM – Mrs. Karen Christine (Robinson) Pooler, 76, a retired Sergeant with the City of Salem Police Department, beloved wife of the late Salem Police Detective Sergeant Clifford Pooler, died Wednesday, March 16 th , 2022 at her home.
Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Hegarty) Robinson. Raised and educated in Beverly, she was a graduate of Beverly High School. Following her military service, she continued her education earning her Bachelors Degree from Southern New Hampshire University.
An honorably discharged veteran, she served her country as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army. She was very proud of her service to her country.
Sergeant Pooler served the City of Salem as a Police Officer for 32 years until the time of her retirement in 2003. She was ahead of her time in many ways and was a pioneer in women's law enforcement. She took great pride in her dedication to protecting and serving the City of Salem and its residents.
A woman with boundless energy, Karen loved to learn new skills and truly had an adventurous side. From a young age, she was an expert horseback rider and even kept her own horses. She studied and obtained her pilots license and was a proud woman aviator. She loved to hike, scuba dive and was an excellent cook. She was an expert Skeet Shooter and good fisherman. She had a passion for music and was a season ticket holder at North Shore Music Theatre. Her passions were many and she excelled at all of them.
Karen was a long-time member of the Palmer's Cove Yacht Club and enjoyed boating with her husband on their Boston Whaler. She was an avid reader and was always knowledgeable on all the current events. She was ultimately proud of her Irish heritage and had a love of animals especially her beloved "Teddy", her long-time canine companion. Her smile would light up any room and was only dwarfed by her kind and giving heart. She treasured her family, her country and her hometown of Salem. Above all else, Karen had a deep and profound faith. She will be deeply missed.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Tancrede of Berwick, ME, her son, Dana Rae Gagnon and his wife, Mary of Nevada, her grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Tatum, Dillon, Courtney and Brendan, her 5 great grandchildren, her twin brother, Kevin Robinson and his wife, Marsha of Houston, TX, her step-daughters, Kathy and Lisa and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dana and Kent Robinson.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass which will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody/Salem line, Friday, April 22nd at 10 A.M. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours omitted. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM.
