Obituary

SALEM – Mrs. Karen Lee (Wegner) Callor, 64, of Salem, beloved wife of Frederick A. Callor, Sr., passed away on February 7, 2025 with her loving family at her side. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Mary (Higgins) Wegner.  Karen was born in Greensboro, North Carolina while her parents were serving in the military, before settling in Salem where she was raised and educated, graduating from Salem High School.

After graduation Karen worked multiple jobs, but was known for being a staple at the local White Hen where everyone knew her name, as well as caring for her family and husband. Her greatest pride came from her children and grandchildren, and she always found time to create lasting memories with her nieces and nephew. The bonds she nurtured with her loved ones were a testament to her unwavering devotion to family.

Karen's warm spirit shined brightest in her love for the outdoors, particularly in her cherished garden, where she spent countless hours under the sun, caring for her plants, koi pond, and soaking in the warm rays of the sun. An undeniable highlight of her life was tending to her beloved koi pond, where her fierce love was evident as she once bravely defended her fish from a crane with nothing but a small stick.

Her affinity for gardens extended to her love for collecting gnomes, adding a touch of whimsy to her serene backyard retreat and her house. Fred would show his devotion to Karen every year when he would carefully repaint every one of her gnomes so they would always look their best. Beyond her gardening pursuits, Karen cherished her time at the beach, often relishing the sun-drenched days spent with family.

In addition to her parents, Karen is predeceased by her sister Mary Bohn and her granddaughter Patricia Callor.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Fred, her daughter, Kara Rijo and her husband Bryan of Clinton, her sons, Frederick A. Callor, Jr., and his wife Bernadete of Lynn, and David Callor and his wife Dawn of Reynoldsville, Pennysylvania, her grandchildren, Mariah Bromfield (Peanut), Krystian Callor, and Dominic Cole, her sister, Noreen Henderson of Salem, and her nieces and nephew.
