TOPSFIELD - Mrs. Kathleen T. (Kearney) Evans, 91, of Topsfield, beloved wife of the late William George Evans, died Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her family.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Josephine (Lonergan) Kearney. She was raised and educated in Boston.

As a young woman, Mrs. Evans had been employed as a designer. Following the marriage to her beloved husband she followed a path to her true calling as a mother and devoted wife and homemaker. The matriarch of a large growing family, Kathleen devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She created a warm, loving and inviting home for her family and friends. Always the gracious host, she was renowned for her family gatherings especially around the holidays. She was the consummate "mother" figure to not only her children but family and friends. Steadfast, caring, loving and strong; Kathleen's commitment and ever-present support to her family will be her lasting hallmark.

A long-time resident of the Town of Topsfield, Mrs. Evans loved to golf and was a member of the local golf league in her early years. She enjoyed decorating, family event planning, swimming and all genres of music. She was ultimately proud of the accomplishments of her family and will be deeply missed.

Kathleen is survived by her children, William James "Jimmy" Evans of Lynn, MA, Stella "Terry" Kathleen Tipton and her husband Randy of Birmingham, Al, Gary Evan Evans and his wife Janet of Haverhill, MA, Glenn Theodore Evans and his wife Yungmi of Savanah, GA, Douglas "Dougie" Toney Evans of Topsfield, MA, and LeeAnne Powers and her husband Whitney of Topsfield, MA; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, John Richard "Ricky" Evans and his two children, Brynn and Madelynn of Gloucester, MA, Courtney Paige Williams and her four children Brooke, Brenton, Brielle, and Braxton of Wagram, NC, Bethany Bonczar and her two children Ryan and Taylor of Groton, MA, Lyndsey Evans and her two children, Henry and Molly of Georgetown, MA, Jacqueline Evans of Somerville, MA, Alexandra "Alex" Evans of Boston, MA, Ashley Victoria Powers of Topsfield, MA, Milton "Billy" William Tipton of Vestavia, AL, and Sean Patrick Tipton of Huntsville, AL. She is also survived by her close friend and sister in heart, Anne Kearney of Methuen, MA.

She was the mother of the late Richard "Ricky" Evans of Topsfield, MA and sister of the late Daniel "Danny" James Kearney, William "Buddy" Thomas Kearney, Mildred Esther Riley, Mary Elizabeth Chryssicas, Josephine "Joan" Margaret Bean, James "Sonny" Kearney and Frances "Bobby" Robert Kearney. ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be held in St. Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield, Saturday, Sept. 28th at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Visiting hours in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) Danvers, Friday, Sept 27th from 4 to 7 P.M.
