Obituary

SALEM - Mrs. Lauretta (Moore) Cloherty, 87, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at Salem Hospital.

Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Gertrude (Holmes) Moore of Belmont. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 39 years, Patrick J. Cloherty, Jr., and her sisters, Gertrude Ryan, Virginia O'Grady, Patricia Johnson, and Phyllis Sevigny.

Laurie graduated from Belmont High School and received her bachelor's degree from Emmanuel College and her master's degree in library science from Simmons College. She also studied at universities in Madrid, Spain, and Coahuila, Mexico.

Mrs. Cloherty had a long career as a librarian at the Cambridge Public Library, retiring as Assistant Director in 1992.

Laurie had a love for genealogy. She diligently researched her entire family history and helped others do the same through client research and lecturing. She was also a talented needlework artist, winning multiple blue-ribbons over the years at the Topsfield Fair.

Laurie is survived by her adopted son, Gallus Fotabong, 23 nieces and nephews, 47 grandnieces and nephews, and 20 great-grandnieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service which will be held at Belmont Cemetery, 121 Grove St, Belmont on July 7th, 2023 at 10 A.M.
