DANVERS - Mr. Lawrence L. Call 81, of Danvers, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 29th, 2024 at his home.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Lester and Henrietta (Mendelka) Call. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, Master Sergeant Call served his country as a member of the United States Army and retired from the Army National Guard where he served his country with honor and dedication for over 20 years. He received several medals and commendations over the years detailing his commitment and sacrifice in the military exemplifying his strong sense of duty and loyalty. Following his retirement Lawrence contracted with the Military for 8 years and was a member of the United States Coast Guard Axillary where he taught boat safety courses for several years.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, his dedication to his country was surpassed only by his dedication to family. He was a hands-on dad who loved a good joke and was known for his quirky "Dad jokes". He enjoyed many cruises and camping trips with his family. He loved to tinker and fix things which he did often for anyone who needed a hand with a project. He was an active member Danvers VFW Post #2359 and past post President, a member of the Polish Russian, Lithuanian, American Citizens Club and the American Legion. Larry was kind, patient and generous with his time and will be forever remembered for his legacy of love and service and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Larry are his children, Jessica Call of Wolfeboro, NH, Peter Call and his wife Heidi of Freeport, ME and Maureen Call of MA, his grandchildren, Emilie Call, Grady Call, Erik Call, Ian Pszenny and Zoe Pszenny, Lindsay Glazier, Haylee Fry and Shannon Fry, his siblings Virgina "Tootsie" Russell of Danvers, Clarence "Cookie" Call of NH and Nancy Conrad of MA and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENT: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Monday, August 5th, 2024 from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne on Tuesday, August 6th at 11:15 A.M. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Larry's memory to the Danvers VFW Post #2359, 232 Locust St., Danvers, MA 01923.
