Obituary

DANVERS – Mr. Lawrence "Larry" H. Crowley 86, of Danvers, passed away peacefully at home on May 21st, 2024 with is family by his side. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Biddlecombe) Crowley, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Lawrence to the late The Rt. Rev. Archie H. Crowley and Jean H. Crowley. Larry was a graduate of The Cranbrook School, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1956. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army Security Agency in Alaska. After the Army, he earned his Bachelor's Degree from Olivet College, Olivet, MI and a Masters of Education from Springfield College, Springfield, Ma.

Larry served the town of Danvers for 26 years as the Recreation Director until the time of his retirement.

Larry was involved in many community service organizations and received various awards during his career including the M.E. O'Brien Recreation Service Award, the Massachusetts Recreation and Parks Association Professional of the Year in 1993. He was also honored to be the recipient of the Baron Mayer Award for his exemplary volunteer contributions to the community of Danvers. He was a member of the Danvers Community Council, a long-time member of the Danvers Kiwanis Club and a long-time member of All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore (formerly Calvary Episcopal Church) of Danvers.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his son, James Crowley and his wife Beth of Salem, his daughter, Debra Poirier and her husband Ralph of Foxboro and his son, Jonathan Crowley and his wife Rosemary of Highland Mills, NY, his grandchildren, Shannon Poirier, Madison Poirier Britt and her husband Noah, Jon Poirier, Shauna Crowley, Benjamin, Molly and Lilly Crowley. He was the brother of The Rev. Daniel Crowley and brother-in-law of George Biddlecombe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: A celebration of Larry's life will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore, 46 Cherry St., Danvers, on Friday, May 31st at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Interment will be privately held at a later date in Orleans, Ma. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) DANVERS.
