DANVERS - Mr. Leo Niciewsky, 93, of Danvers, beloved husband of the late Eleanor J. (Dzuineski) Niciewsky with whom he shared 64 years of marriage, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice in Reading surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Montreal, Canada he was the son of the late Arthur and Agatha (Anihovsky) Niciewsky. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem Vocational Technical High School.

An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Niciewsky proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII.

Following his discharge from the Army Leo embarked on a long career as a carpenter and craftsman until the time of his retirement. With his strong work ethic and attention to detail he was often sought after for his expertise in his field.

A dedicated husband and an amazing father and grandfather, Leo led his family by example. He was strong, kind and had an amazing sense of humor. Integrity was paramount; he taught his children to always do the right thing even if it was harder. He was steadfast in his belief that family came first and worked tirelessly every day to provide for them. Leo was always a source of comfort, love and a steady guiding force for his children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by them.

Devoted to his faith, Leo was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Salem. He was a resident of Danvers for over 60 years and enjoyed traveling and wintering in Naples, FL with Eleanor.

Surviving Leo are his daughters, Joy Gilman of Seabrook, NH, Donna Bellino and her husband Bill of Georgetown, Faith Barringer and her husband Robert of Boxford and Carol Jefferson and her husband Bruce of Kensington, NH, his grandchildren, Scott Gilman and his wife Lydia, Mark Gilman and his wife Tina Chu, Christopher Bellino and his fiancé, Lillee Tissot, Laura Bellino and her husband Stephen Vaughan and Julia Barringer, his 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Luba Bailey and Arthur Niciewsky.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass which will be held in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Forrester St., Salem on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 10 A.M. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers.
