Leonard "Len" Dullea

PEABODY - Mr. Leonard (Len) Dullea died at home after an extended illness.

Len was one of three children born to Alice (Galuska) and Edward F. Dullea. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Martha (Higgins), his brother Edward Dullea and his sister Cynthia (Dullea) Roberts. Len was a graduate of St. John’s Prep in Danvers and attended classes at Northeastern. In 1963, he married Martha Higgins and together, Len and Martha spent the next 61 years raising their family and building their lives until her death in July of last year.

Len was a loving father to his children: Leonard Dullea, Jr., Christine (Dullea) Pierga, Brian Dullea, and James Dullea, as well as a loving grandfather to his grandchildren: Matthew Pierga, Joshua Pierga and his wife Helena Pierga, Nicholas Dullea, Ryan Dullea, and Jacob Dullea; and great grandson Elliott Pierga. He also leaves his close and caring friends, John and Jane Healey, who participated in many adventures with Len and Martha over the years.

Len spent his career at GTE/Osram Sylvania and earned over 11 patents related to work on fluorescent lighting, lamps and processes to improve their effectiveness and longevity. He traveled to Mexico, Canada and China monitoring work related to production processes.

Len had many interests and passions, including fishing, gardening, camping, and more recently, buying and trading antiques and other collectibles.

Len's legacy of love, care, and devotion to his wife, especially in their later years as she lost her vision, will be remembered by all those close to him. His support and care for his family will likewise be missed.
