SALEM -Lillian C. (Fadoir) Scanlon, 88, of Salem, beloved wife of the late Edward Scanlon, died Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Beverly Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born in Torrington, Connecticut she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Meyerjack) Fadoir. She was raised and educated in Torrington and was a graduate of Torrington High School. Lillian continued her education at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her nursing degree. Lillian specialized in Psychiatric nursing and received additional training at Bellevue and Presbyterian Hospitals in New York.

Mrs. Scanlon had been employed by her alma mater St. Francis Hospital and private psychiatric facilities in Massachusetts and Connecticut for many years prior to starting her family. She had also been employed by North Shore Elder Services prior to her retirement.

A devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, Lillian was most proud of her family. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed cooking and reading. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Surviving Lillian are her son, Stephen Scanlon and his wife Joyce Nash of Beverly, her four daughters, Kathryn Scanlon of Federal Way, WA, Sarah Gray and her husband Kenneth of Kirkland, WA, Elizabeth Scanlon of Mukilteo, WA, and Sioux Gilday and her husband Michael of Beverly, her four grandchildren, Hannah Schmidt and her husband Matthew of Beverly, Samuel Gilday of Chicago, Daniel Skillingstead and Ruby Skillingstead both of Washington. Her brother John Fadoir and his wife Donna of Chatham, her sister-in-law, Kathryn Orsini of Medford, her brother-in-law Anthony Severi of Connecticut, her close friends Gertrude Brown and Connie Payne. She was also the sister of the late Evelyn Severi and Mary Ann Ameika.

Arrangements: At the request of the family all arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Lillian's memory to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, The Schrafft's Center, 529 Main St., Suite 1M17, Boston, MA 02129 Attn: Marilyn DeSantis, Donor Relations.
