SALEM – Linda J. Moustakis, 81, of Salem passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 in Hunt Nursing Home after a short illness. Born in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Baldwin and Helen (Bartnicki) Olbrych.

Linda was raised in Salem, Massachusetts in her family home she shared with her aunt and three uncles. Linda remained in Salem for most of her life, graduating from Salem High School before obtaining her nursing certificate from Salem Hospital. She went on to work at Salem Hospital as an OR nurse for more than 40 years. Linda highly enjoyed working in the medical field and took pride in her work as a nurse, often sharing her knowledge and experience with others.

Linda was an active member of the Salem community, belonging to multiple groups such as The House of Seven Gables where she proudly held her first job, the Peabody Essex Museum, and the Polish American Citizens Club.

Proud of her heritage and Catholic faith, Linda was also a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church. Linda shared her knowledge and artifacts of her Polish history as a writer and contributor of the Salem Maritime National Historic Site Special Ethnographic Report, In the Heart of Polish Salem: An Ethnohistorical Study of St. Joseph Hall and Its Neighborhood.

Linda valued family tradition and placed high importance on holidays and family gatherings. This was reflected in her cooking and she would spend every week cooking for her family, including Polish recipes such as Babka, Kielbasa, Pierogi, and Golabki. In her free time, Linda loved reading, writing, painting and photography. She would often spend her weekends by the ocean or with her grandchildren, Elise and Lorin.

Linda was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who will always be remembered for her great sense of humor, fiery spirit, and strong will.

Linda is survived by her son, Christopher Moustakis of Salem, and her two granddaughters; Elise Moustakis and Lorin Moustakis. She was predeceased by her son, Dennis Moustakis and her sister, Sandra Baldwin.
