Linda Louise
(Gottselig) Locke
September 21, 1947 – January 24, 2022
SALEM – Ms. Linda Louise (Gottselig) Locke 74, of Salem, passed away on Monday, January 24th, 2022 at her home.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late John and Mae (Wolff) Gottselig. She was raised and educated in Chicago. She highly valued education, and was a graduate of the University of Illinois – Urbana, she earned Master's degrees at Marquette University and the University of Maryland. She also studied under Noam Chomsky at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Linda began her professional career as an educator working with special needs students in speech pathology. She then began her real-estate career and acquired homes in Salem. She was known for her kindness toward her tenants and involvement with the Salem community. Linda was a founder of Friends of the Mary Jane Lee Park in Salem, the President of the Point Neighborhood Association for many years, and spent time volunteering with the St. Joseph Food Pantry. A voracious reader, Linda had a true passion for poetry, both reading and composing. She was a long-time fan of the Chicago Blackhawks ever since her father, Johnny Gottselig, played professional hockey in the American Hockey Association and the National Hockey League from 1928 to 1947.
Above all else, Linda dedicated her life to assisting those in need. No matter their necessity, she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a loving mother who will be deeply missed.
Linda is survived by her son, Joseph Christopher Locke.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held graveside at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Orne St., Salem, Monday, Jan. 31st at 11 A.M. Please meet at the main gate. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations - Funerals - Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM.
