TOPSFIELD – Mrs. Linda N. (Smith) Bissell, 79 of Topsfield, died peacefully on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Seaview Retreat in Rowley.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Virginia (Fossa) Smith. She was raised and educated in Boxford and was a graduate of North Andover High School.

Mrs. Bissell had been employed as a teller at the TD Bank, Topsfield branch location for several years. Previously she had been employed at the Gift Horse in Topsfield for many years.

A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Linda was a long-time dedicated member of the Congregational Church of Topsfield. She was active in the Church having served as a Deacon and especially enjoyed her time participating as a member of the church choir and the hand bells choir. With great anticipation, she looked forward to performing at the annual Hand Bell Christmas concert at the church. She made many lifelong friends over the years.  She enjoyed spending her time crafting and was an expert rug hooker. She was the best homemaker and took great pride in her ability to create a warm and loving home for her family.  She spoiled her kids with her special chocolate chip cookie recipe, and gave me them extra to give out in the lunch room.  Prior to working out of the home she was the neighborhood mom with many of her children's friends thinking of her as a second mother.  She will be deeply missed.

Linda is survived by her daughters, Valerie Bissell of Portsmouth, RI and Aimee Gedney and her husband Michael of Bridgton, Maine, her sons, Alfred 'Mark' Bissell III and his wife Lisa of Boxford and David Bissell formally from Boxford, her 16 grandchildren, and her 8 great grandchildren. Her siblings, Frank Smith of Danvers, Joan Drouin of North Andover, Karen Weldon of Brandon Vermont and Susan Smith of Boxford and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held graveside in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Boxford on Thursday, January 21st at 11 A.M. Visiting hours in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., Danvers, MA 01923, Wednesday, Jan. 20th from 4 to 7 P.M. All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
