PEABODY - Margaret "Meg" (Peat) Kerber, 94, of Peabody, formerly of Lynnfield, died Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness.
She was the devoted wife of the late Wilmer “Bill” Kerber Jr. Born in Portland, Maine on September 5th, 1931, she was the daughter of the late David Mealls Peat and Elizabeth Lochhead Peat, of Denny, Scotland, and the sister of Janet Arnold, Mary Kunkemueller and the late David Peat. She was the loving mother of John Allan Kerber and his wife Ping Kerber, grandmother of Alvin Kerber and his wife Jia Wen Li, Alice Kerber, and Anna Kerber, and great-grandmother of Gabriel Kerber.
Raised in Gardiner, ME, Meg earned her bachelor’s degree in English literature from Boston University, and her master’s degree in library science from McGill University. She was the well-loved Lynnfield High School librarian for over 20 years. After retirement, Meg served on the Lynnfield School Committee.
A resident of Lynnfield for 42 years, Meg moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody in 2000. She was an active member of the Protestant Church, and of the many musical groups at Brooksby Village, including the Protestant Church choir, the community chorus, and the bell ringers. Meg also helped organize Brooksby’s classical music concert series.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 100 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody on Monday, June 22nd at 10:30AM. A reception will follow. The graveside service will be held at Puritan Lawn, 185 Lake St., Peabody at 1:45PM after the reception.
