Obituary

TOPSFIELD – Mrs. Margaret Ann (Ventre) McDougall, 79 of Topsfield and the beloved wife of Daniel F. McDougall passed away peacefully, on Friday, October 14th, 2022 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading with her loving family by her side.

Born in the West End of Boston, Margaret was the daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Puccia) Ventre. Raised and educated in Brookline, she was a graduate from Brookline High School, class of 1961 and continued her education briefly at a Junior College in Newton before enrolling in the nursing program at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York receiving her associates degree in Nursing.

Margaret dedicated her professional career tending to the delicate care of patients at Massachusetts General Hospital working as the Supervising Head Nurse for the Cardiac Surgical Step-Down Unit for over 45 years. She took great pride in her career with Massachusetts General Hospital and over the years cared for many patients until the time of her retirement in 2013.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, Margaret was blessed with her supportive and loving family. She was devoted to her faith and was a member of Sodality of Our Lady at St. Raphael's Church in Medford and St. Rose of Lima Parish in Topsfield. She enjoyed her many friendships and participated in many events hosted by the Topsfield Council on Aging. Margaret loved traveling with her husband, making quilts, painting ceramics and taking pictures of almost everything to capture a moment to cherish forever. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband Daniel with whom Margaret shared 51 years of marriage, she is survived by her children, Stephen McDougall of Methuen and Meghan Matthews and her husband, Jeff of Pleasant Hill, MO; her grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob McDougall of Methuen and Ainsley and Deacon Matthews of Pleasant Hill, MO; her brother, Michael Ventre and his wife, Ruth of Nashua, NH and nephew, Michael Ventre of Seattle, WA and many friends and extended family including aunts, uncles and cousins in Rochester, NY.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Margaret's funeral which will be held from O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Thursday, October 20th at 10 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 12 Park St., Topsfield at 11 A.M. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Visiting hours on Wednesday, October 19th from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital https://giving.massgeneral.org.
