PEABODY – Marian F. (Bolger) Dunn, 82, formerly of Danvers, loving wife of the late Neil F. Dunn, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026 at Brooksby Village in Peabody. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (Maher) Bolger.
Marian was raised and educated in Brighton and Allston before moving to Waltham, where she graduated from St. Mary's High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Emmanuel College and later her Master's Degree from Boston College.
Marian was an exceptional teacher. She taught second grade at the Whittemore School in Waltham for many years before retiring in 1998. She knew everyone in the community and even taught three generations of one family. Her creative spirit extended beyond the classroom — she was actively involved in developing exhibits for the Children's Museum during Michael Spock's tenure there.
Marian loved art throughout her life, especially photography and painting. She served as a past president of both the Danvers Art Association and the North Shore Art Association, won numerous awards, and participated in many regional art shows. She was also deeply involved in the annual auctions and fundraisers that supported the arts.
Marian loved to travel. She and Neil, both educators, spent their summers exploring together — from Cape Cod and Vermont to Hawaii, and even white-water rafting in Alaska.
Marian's warmth, creativity, and dedication touched everyone who knew her, and her spirit lives on in the countless children she taught and inspired over the years.
In addition to her parents, Marian is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Neil F. Dunn.
Marian is survived by her sister, Frances T. Banerjee and her husband Dr. Tridib of San Marino, CA, her nephew, Josh Banerjee and his wife Victoria of Pasadena, CA, her niece, Joya Banerjee and her husband Harris Cohen of Burlingame, CA, and her great nephews, Shaan, Nathan, Luca, and Leland.
