DANVERS – Mrs. Marie Catherine "Sally" (Torpey) Diorio, 90 of Danvers, loving wife of the late Frank J. Diorio, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Royal Meadow View in North Reading.
Born in Melrose, Sally was the daughter of the late John F. and Mary (Marshall) Torpey. Raised and educated in Everett, Marie was a graduate of Everett High School and continued her education at Salem State College earning her Master's degree in Education.
Sally dedicated her entire professional career to children education working for Malden Public School as a Teacher at the Maplewood and Daniel Schools. She loved her job and truly felt that each day she made a positive impact on the many lives she guided.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and nana, Sally was all about her family and loved spending time with them on Franklin Pierce Lake in the cottage built by her husband. She was an avid traveler and in retirement, enjoyed exploring Europe with her husband along with her sister, Ann and her husband, Dick taking in the many historic sites and cultural foods. She was a lifelong adventurer, avid reader and stayed active in the Danvers community through her devoted participation in church. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.
Sally is survived by her daughters, Jean Diorio of Saugus and Carol DiGiantommaso and her partner, Robert Davidson of North Reading; grandson, Paul DiGiantommaso and wife, Katty of Londonderry, NH; great-grandchildren, Mikey, Marco and Mia DiGiantommaso and brother-in-law Dick Ockerbloom. Sally was the grandmother of the late Michael DiGiantommaso and sister to the late Ann (Torpey) Ockerbloom.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sally's visiting hours which will be held from O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Wednesday, July 13th from 9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Followed by her funeral Mass which will be held at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers at 12 P.M. (NOON). Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sally's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one's choice.
