SALEM- Mrs. Marie M. (Gonyea) Blair 86 of Salem, beloved wife of the late Earl L. Blair died peacefully, Wednesday, January 6th, 2016 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston with her loving family by her side. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Moroney) Gonyea. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1947 and was a lifelong resident of the City of Salem. Marie continued her education at Boston University graduating in 1949 with an Associate's Degree. Later she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Salem State University in 1963. Mrs. Blair dedicated her professional career to educating the youth of Salem. She was a Business Education teacher at Salem High School from 1969 until the time of her retirement in1996. Marie was an avid gardener and reader; she enjoyed live theatre, traveling, cruising, the beach and water aerobics at the Salem Y.M.C.A. Yet above all else, she enjoyed spending her time with her beloved grandchildren, who were the highlight of her life. She will be deeply missed. Marie is survived by her four children, Dawn (Blair) Galvin of Swampscott, Mark E. Blair and his wife Debra (Marengi) of Salem, Kevin E. Blair and his wife Erin (Flynn) of St. Augustine, Fl and Keri (Blair) Guerrette and her husband Stephen of Lynn, her seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Blair Galvin, Alexander Mark Blair, Zachary Earl Blair, Megan Alissa Blair, Michael Earl Guerrette, Matthew Philip Guerrette and Lily Blair Guerrette.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Mass which will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem Saturday, January 9th at 10 A.M. Burial is Private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem. As requested visiting hours omitted. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Marie's memory to the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, 333 East Lancaster Ave., #414, Wynnewood, Pa, 19096.
