IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Teresa
(Marquis) Florence
March 15, 1941 – February 21, 2025
SALEM – Mrs. Marilyn Teresa (Marquis) Florence, 83, of Salem, beloved wife of Thomas Frederick Florence Sr., died peacefully at home, with her family by her side on February 21, 2025.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Mary (Brienza) Marquis. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1959.
Mrs. Florence had been employed for many years as a teller in the banking industry until the time of her retirement in 1994.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Marilyn was devoted to her family, first and foremost. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and was so proud of all of their accomplishments. She and Tom lived in Lake Suzie, Florida for 20 years and made many friends over the years. Her second passion was golf. She was an avid and extraordinarily skilled golfer. She played daily in retirement and was the head of the golf league in Florida. She was also the designated "Social Chair" of the league; as she always enjoyed the camaraderie as much as the game. She is the only member of her family to have ever gotten a hole in 1, and would often remind them of her prowess. She relished time travelling and was a terrific baker and a fantastic cook. A true people person, Marilyn was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband and forever golf partner, Thomas Frederick Florence Sr. of Salem, her sons, Thomas Florence Jr, Charles Florence and Matthew Florence all of Salem, her grandchildren, Ashley Wheeler and her husband, Matthew of Boxford, Christopher Olivolo and his wife, Brandi of Ipswich, Joseph Florence of Salem, Kyle Florence and his wife, Sarah of Newton and Julia Florence of Salem, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Teresa Olivolo, sister of the late Joseph and Robert Marquis and mother-in-law of the late Brigid Florence.
