DANVERS – Mrs. Marilyn Carlson Norwood, passed away on January 7th, 2025 at Bear Mountain Sudbury Nursing Home, at the age of 91.
Marilyn was an executive secretary in the Research Division of the United Shoe Machinery Corp. for many years.
She was a graduate of Holten High School, Danvers and Burdette College.
She was a lifelong resident of the Town of Danvers MA and a lifelong parishioner of Calvary Episcopal Church, which later became All Saints Episcopal of the North Shore.
She was a member of the Clamshell Writers Group and a former member of the Essex Society of Genealogists, where she worked on the Norwood family lineage.
She was a highly active amateur athlete before she suffered a stroke at the age of 44. She then channeled her energies into walking, and walked every day for the next 46 years. She was an accomplished sewer, knitter, quilter, and oil painter.
She and her late husband Donald were members of the Lake Shore Park Association of Gilford NH for many decades. She and her husband were avid ice skaters, cross-country skiers, bicyclists, and birdwatchers.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald. She was also predeceased by her parents, Muriel MacDonald Pelletier and Bernard Knight Carlson; her stepfather Don Pelletier; her sisters, Nancy Marshall and Betty Kirk; and brothers, Dick Pelletier and Ronny Pelletier.
She leaves her daughter Kristin A. Norwood, her son Erik Norwood, and her grandson Joshua Gilbert. She also leaves her sisters Joyce Piwonski, Gail Woodward, and Susan Ortins, and brother Jeffery Pelletier.
ARRANGEMENTS: A private family graveside service will be held at Holten's Burying Ground in Danvers.
