IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marissa Lee
(Clark) (Kirk) Olds
May 31, 1975 – July 6, 2025
GROVELAND – Marissa Lee (Clark) (Kirk) Olds, 50, with hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, mimi, aunt, and friend on July 6th, 2025.
Marissa passed away surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. She faced her diagnosis with incredible strength and resilience, unwavering positivity, and a deep love for life that never dimmed.
Born in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, she was the daughter of Angela (Abolnar) Murphy, her husband Paul, and late James Clark. She was raised and educated in Johnstown, Ohio and was a graduate of Johnstown High School. She continued her education attending Northeastern University.
Mrs. Olds had been employed for many years in the restaurant industry as a server and bartender. She loved people and was always the favorite server of the regulars wherever she worked. More recently she began a career in the Aerospace and Defense industry with L3Harris in Burlington (and later, Northrop Grumman). It is here where she made many friends including her eventual husband, Jake. She was beloved by co-workers and clients alike.
A beautiful and loving smile endeared Marissa to many – it was hard not to like her. She had an innate ability to draw people in. With her charisma, spontaneous sense of humor, kindness, and open arms, she made friends easily. A passionate person, who loved deeply and openly, Marissa was abundantly thoughtful. She continually gave people the benefit of the doubt, as her true nature told her to forgive and she never carried a grudge. She practiced what she preached. Self-reflection allowed her to find true inner peace and thus her love shined through to others. From wife, daughter, mother, to mimi, they all considered her their best friend, in addition to the other titles she held with them. She holds a special place in the hearts of all who loved her.
Live music, painting, traveling, snowboarding, and dancing were how she enjoyed spending her time, but there was nothing she valued more than being with her family. She was especially happy in Ogunquit, Maine. Being along the water, walking, reflecting, and taking in nature's beauty, always brought out her beautiful smile.
Marissa lived her life with fierce devotion to her family. She found her greatest joy and purpose in being a mother – her children were not just her world, but her best friends. To know her was to be welcomed, accepted, and loved without conditions. She had a rare gift: she could make anyone feel like they truly belonged.
Marissa lived fully every day, embracing life with laughter, adventure, and an open heart. Even in the face of terminal illness, she never gave up. Her strength, light, and spirit inspired all who knew her. She taught us how to live – and love – without fear, and with joy.
She would want to be remembered not with sadness, but with joy. She believed in living fully and loving deeply. She would want her memory to bring people together – with stories, laughter, good wine, and warm hearts. In her honor, cherish your people, say "I love you" often, take the trip, dance in the kitchen, and never pass up a reason to celebrate life.
She is the cherished wife of Jacob Olds; loving mother of Nicholas Kirk, Tiffany Danner-Hicks, Joseph Kirk, and Halle Kirk; and devoted stepmother to Owen and Wrennyn Olds. She was also a proud and loving mother-in-law to Joseph Danner-Hicks and Wafae Laarej. She was "Mimi" to her treasured grandchildren Elias, Safwan, and Celia Aisha, and beloved "auntie sis" to Alexander and Charlie Drew.
Marissa is deeply missed by her mother, Angela Murphy; her stepfather, Paul Murphy; and stepmother, Debbie Clark, her father's wife. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Andrea Drew, Katherine Murphy, and Lily Murphy, and by her step-sisters Melanie Toney and Megan Keller.
