SALEM - Mr. Martin W. Fair, 66, of Salem, beloved husband of Susan (Brockney) Fair, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of Janet (Intinarelli) Fair and the late Robert Fair. He was raised and educated in Holliston and was a graduate of Holliston High School. Martin continued his education, receiving his Bachelor's degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Fair had a long and distinguished career as a health agent, beginning in Salem and Hamilton for a short time and finally settling in North Reading, where he remained for 34 years. He was an integral part of town government, using his knowledge to educate the public and promote health and wellness. He had a general concern for safety and was quick to respond to any health related hazards. He was known for his kind, caring and approachable manner, and was always ready to answer a question or lend a helping hand. Martin possessed a lifelong curiosity for science and nature, which he explored through his work.

A great husband, father and son; he was loving, kind and happiest when surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was truly proud of his family and considered them his greatest accomplishment; he was always there to lend support, advice and guidance. He will be ever present in their hearts and deeply missed by his family and many friends.

A longtime resident of the City of Salem, Martin was a member of the Salem Board of Health, an active member of Ste. Anne's Church and a member of their choir. He had a love for all music and often attended concerts. Martin was an avid fisherman with a passion for tuna fishing and enjoyed spending time out on the water in his boat. He obtained his pilot's license and had a passion for airplanes. Martin was famous for taking his family on "mystery rides," which he planned using his beloved maps.

Surviving Martin, in addition to his wife Susan with whom he shared 38 years of marriage, are his daughters Elizabeth Fair and Lindsay Fair, both of Salem; as well as extended family and friends.
