LECANTO, FL – Mrs. Mary D. (Daigle) Newbegin 84, of Lecanto, FL, formerly of Danvers, beloved wife of John L. Newbegin passed away on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025 at Citrus Hospital in Florida, following a brief illness.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Anna (Kuc) Daigle. She was raised and educated in Wenham and was a graduate of Beverly High School.
Mary dedicated her life to caring for others in her career as a successful administrator in the Pediatric Neurology Department at Salem Hospital. Her unwavering commitment to her work and her compassionate spirit touched the lives of countless families throughout her career of over 30 years.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mary's family always came first. She embraced life with a heart of gold, always bringing joy and laughter to those around her. She had an infectious zest for life, often sharing her great sense of humor with her loved ones and friends. Mary was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. Her unconditional love for her family was evident in all she did and was a constant source of strength and support. An avid reader, Mary could often be found lost in the pages of a good book or keeping herself up to date on current events. She really enjoyed her time spent playing the slot machines, relishing the thrill and camaraderie that came with it. Mary fostered many friendships over the years, attended the monthly lunches with the ladies, which were always filled with stories, laughter and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving Mary, in addition to her husband John with whom she shared 67 years of marriage, are her daughters, Maureen Newbegin and her husband, Kenneth Borgemenke of Floral City, FL, Nancy Slombo and her husband, William of Newton, NH and Susan Supino and her husband, Ronald, Jr. of Peabody, her 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, her sister's Sandra Duncan of FL and Jeanne Snyder of Canada and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 11:30 AM. Burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Middleton. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Mary's memory to Citrus County Animal Shelter, 4030 S. Airport Rd., Inverness, FL 34450.
