GLOUCESTER – Mary Elizabeth (Swanson) Osborne, 61, of Gloucester, loving wife of the late Mark Ashley Osborne, passed away peacefully on November 16th, 2024 in Haverhill.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Leonard F. and Nancy J. (Clare) Swanson. MaryBeth was raised and educated in Wenham before graduating from the Pingree School in Hamilton. She went on to attend UMass Amherst where she earned her bachelor's degree in Art History and minored in French. While at UMass, MaryBeth had the opportunity to spend a semester in southern France; this experience had a profound impact on her. She greatly enjoyed the French culture, was a fluent French speaker, and loved visiting and spending time with her French family.

MaryBeth was passionate about art and dedicated her life to the world of antique art, serving as a gallery director at Haley and Steele on Newbury Street in Boston. Her deep appreciation for art and her commitment to preserving its beauty were unparalleled, making a lasting impact on all who knew her. Throughout her life, Marybeth found solace and joy spending summers at her family's lakefront property on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire surrounded by nature and her beloved family.

Diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's, MaryBeth faced this disease with courage and grace, showcasing a strength that inspired all around her. Her resilience and love for her family will forever be remembered and cherished.

MaryBeth is survived by her siblings, Amy Swanson-Salmon of Paris, France, Emily Clare Foley and her husband, Ron of Derry, NH, Leonard "Buzzy" Swanson, Jr. of Gloucester, Andrew Swanson and his wife, Marie, of Manchester, NH, and Eric Swanson and his wife, Tracee, of Boxford, her nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Zoë, Delia, Clarisse, Nathaniel, and Luke, Mark's son, Scott Osborne of Danvers, and her father's wife, Judith Allyn Putnam of Peabody.

ARRANGEMENTS: A Celebration of Marybeth's life will be held on December 22nd, 2024 from 12 P.M. to 4 P.M. at the Gloucester Elks Lodge, 97 Atlantic Rd #101, Gloucester, MA 01930. Relatives and friends invited.
