LYNN- Mr. Michael J. Barry, Esq., 71, of Lynn, beloved husband of Madelyn (Day) Barry, passed away on Monday, November 29th, 2021 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late John and Ellen (McGovern) Barry. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary's Boys High School, Class of 1968. Michael continued his education receiving his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross, Class of 1972 and his Law Degree from Suffolk University, Class of 1975.

Devoted to his community, Mr. Barry served the City of Lynn as Assistant City Solicitor and City Solicitor for over 37 years. He was well respected and often sought after for his advice and expertise. He also served the state of Massachusetts as Assistant Attorney General for two years and was also a Legislative Aide to Senator Walter Boverini. He dedicated countless hours serving as a Board member for serval local non-profit organizations and was also a Board member for Marion Court College. He was a long time friend of Bill W.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family involved in their many activities. He coached Pine Hill Little League for several years and enjoyed wintering in Fort Pierce, Florida with his wife Madelyn. Michael was an active member of St. Mary's Church in Lynn. His commitment to others, his dedication to his community and the love of his family will be his legacy. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the many lives he touched throughout his life.

Surviving Michael, in addition to his wife Madelyn with whom he shared 47 years of marriage, are his daughters, Julie and her husband, Louis Eaton and their daughter, Kayden Barry-Eaton and Kathryn "Katie" Keskin and her husband, Alper and their daughter, Nora and a grandson due in April, his son, Patrick Michael Barry and his partner, Laura Luna and son, Emmanuel Hernandez, his sister, Attorney Sheila Barr of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and his brother, John Barry and his wife Sheila of Nahant and their sons, Timmy and Jack.
