DANVERS - Michael P. Lenkauskas, 59, of Danvers, beloved husband of Cheryl Lenkauskas, died peacefully, Sunday, May 19th, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Cambridge, he was the son of Robert Lenkauskas of Cambridge and the late Georgette (Bergeron) Lenkauskas. He was raised and educated in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, Class of 1983. He continued his education at UMass-Lowell earning his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering as a member of the class of 1987.
After college, Michael worked as an analytical chemist at various environmental laboratories on the east coast before heading out west. In the mid 90's Michael moved to Las Vegas, NV and worked as an analyst at Lockheed Martin Laboratories for several years. Michael then worked as an EPA Contractor for the IT Group's Quality Assurance and Technical Support (QATS) program until 2017, first at the Las Vegas office and then remotely from home. Michael was the task leader on the World Trade Center (WTC) validation project, and later was involved in various asbestos projects throughout the country. Michael was a talented environmental chemist who had the knowledge, talent, and work ethic to contribute to many diverse high-profile projects throughout his career.
Michael had an ever-present radiant smile and beautiful blue eyes. He endeared himself easily and often to anyone that was lucky enough to cross his path. He was fondly referred to as "Lenny," by his many friends. He was adventurous, kind and outgoing. His adventurous streak led him to explore nature's beauty all over the world. He was an avid and accomplished hiker. He was especially proud of summitting the White Mountains of New Hampshire's Four Thousand Footers, reaching the peak of all 48 mountains. Also, an avid cyclist, he rode solo across Europe during the 90's, making new friends all along the way. Michael lived in Las Vegas, NV for over 15 years and relished every moment spent in the American West exploring the beauty of the National Parks. He was truly happy while spending time with his canine companion, Shiloh. Michael's greatest life achievement was his ability to create meaningful and long-lasting relationships.
Michael's family would like to thank the Wellspring team at Brightview Senior Living and the staff from Care Dimensions for all the love, support, and care given to them during his illness.
