SALEM-Michael J. Twomey 65, of Salem, beloved husband of Kathy (Lamphear) Twomey, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at his home, after a long courageous battle with cancer with his loving wife, son David and granddaughter, Caitlin by his side.
Born in New Jersey, he was the son of the late James and Lillian (Cunningham) Twomey. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. Mike dedicated much of his career to the aerospace industry as an assembler and tester. He worked for the General Electric Company and later for Ametek where he was known for his strong work ethic, his attention to detail and dedication to the company. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by Raytheon where he continued to demonstrate his skills and dedication for several more years.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; Mike was deeply committed to his family. He worked tirelessly to support and provide for them, always making time to listen, offer guidance, or lend a helping hand. Known for his patience and kindness, Mike brought those qualities to everything he did, especially when coaching his sons in baseball or teaching his grandkids to fish.
Mike found immense joy in becoming a grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, taking great pride in their activities and celebrating each of their milestones.
An avid fisherman, Mike loved both freshwater and deep-sea fishing, finding peace and contentment out on the water. In his younger years, he also enjoyed bowling and playing darts. Around the home, he was remarkably handy, often taking on repair projects and expressing his creativity through woodworking.
Mike will be remembered for his patience, reliability, and his guiding motto, “Finish what you started,” a principle he lived by each day. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 40 years, Kathy, Mike is survived by his sons, David Taylor of Hudson, NH, and Sean Taylor and his wife, Kerrian, of Beverly; his granddaughters, Caitlin, Brooke, and Kahlaan; his grandsons, D.J., Patrick, and Anthony; his brothers, Scott Twomey and his wife, Linda, of Maine, and Steven Twomey and his wife, Maryjane, of Salem; as well as several nieces and nephews.
