IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael J.
Walsh
July 23, 1963 – April 21, 2023
DANVERS – With profound sadness, we announce that Michael J. Walsh, "Walshie" 59, passed away on Friday, April 21st, 2023, at Beverly Hospital after a short illness. Michael was the beloved husband of Lisa M. (Guarino) Walsh who was with him at the time of his passing. Born in Alamogordo, NM, he was the son of the late William J. and Shirley Ann (Blok) Walsh.
Being born into a military family, Michael, as a child, had the opportunity to travel the country. After living in a few different states, the family eventually set their roots in Malden, where he was raised and educated. A hard worker, a man of many trades, Michael was a short-order cook in his early career, then changed paths to become an auto mechanic. In addition, he held various warehouse and shipping & receiving positions in and around Danvers when he moved to the town in 1993. Since 2006, Michael was a shipping supervisor for DiLuigi Foods in Danvers, a position he truly enjoyed.
On April 11, 1997, he married the love of his life, Lisa, and they went on to live their life together filled with laughter, love, and adventure for 26 years. Constant companions, they enjoyed spending time at Foxwoods and Encore casinos, dining out, swimming at the Y, concerts, and bowling. And while most people viewed it as a chore, they enjoyed grocery shopping and were always on the lookout for new supermarkets to explore.
Michael loved his Boston sports teams and was an avid Pats, Sox, and Bruins fan. Although he didn't play music, he had an ear for it, always jamming out to the classics from the 70s and 80s. Michael was also an ardent reader, primarily of Stephen King novels. Michael's hidden talent was talking backward. He could reverse any word or sentence in his mind and say it out loud. Additionally, he mastered The Three Stooges song "Swingin' The Alphabet", commonly known as B A BAY. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and through his storytelling always found a way to make you laugh. After a long day of work, he enjoyed nothing more than coming home with his wife and sharing some laughs while watching Seinfeld.
Michael was down to earth, easy-going, fun-loving, decent, funny, a no-nonsense man, and a quiet soul with a heart of pure gold. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of having him in their lives. He made a valiant effort to stay in this life and battled until the sudden end. Given a second chance at life in 2015, he was grateful for every minute he had. Gone too soon, may he rest in peace.
In addition to his loving, dedicated wife, Lisa, Michael is survived by his siblings, William J Walsh III (Alyse); Ann Walsh; Kathleen McLane (Brian); Margaret Walsh; Maureen Leininger (Brian). He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, an aunt and uncle, and innumerable friends behind him.
