Obituary

SAUGUS – Milan S. Tekula, PhD, 75 of Saugus, loving husband of Dorothy E. (Andrews) Tekula, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in what is presently Považská Bystrica, Slovakia, Milan was the son of the late Anton and Irena (Martinec) Tekula. Milan grew up in Ethiopia, strengthened by the values instilled in him by his remarkable family. They understood the importance of safety, love, and the pursuit of knowledge, which shaped him into the man we remember today.

Milan's passion for mathematics and physics led him to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned his doctorate. Throughout his esteemed career, he immersed himself in a world of equations and intellectual discourse, surrounded by colleagues who shared his fervor for discovery. His legacy will resonate with those who were fortunate enough to engage with him.

A true lover of adventure, Milan enjoyed road trips that brought him closer to family and friends. From Boston to El Paso, Texas, or New York to visit his beloved mother and father. His spirit found joy in simple pleasures—fixing things, whether it was a broken cabinet or a friend's project, he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Milan's zest for life extended to thrilling roller coasters, classical music, especially when driving, and outdoor adventures like skiing and hiking. He embraced challenges with grace, never shying away from life's difficulties. His passion for sharing knowledge meant that if you summoned him for advice, prepare for an enlightening—and possibly lengthy—discussion. He deeply loved all connections in life and was fiercely devoted to those he loved. As a son, he provided unwavering support to his mother and father during their illnesses. As a husband, he cherished and cared for his beloved wife, Dorothy. Milan's generosity extended to his nieces and nephews, always striving to make their lives a little brighter. His warmth, kindness, and commitment to family and friends paint the portrait of a man who lived life to the fullest, truly present for those who mattered most. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy of Saugus, Milan is survived by his sister, Irene Tekula of NY and his brother, Bohuslav Tekula of NY and many loving and devoted nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews including, Ashley Albonetti, Patrick, Courtney, Anthony and Theo.
