SALEM - Mrs. Monica E. (Hartwell) Kendrick, 56 of Salem, beloved wife of the late David L. Kendrick, Sr., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of Paula (Duarte) Sherwood and the late Malcolm Hartwell. Raised and educated in Gloucester, she was a graduate of Gloucester High School and continued her education at North Shore Community College focusing on Customer Service. A strong, loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, Monica was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to sing, dance and was always smiling. She loved to cook for her family and was known for her outstanding baked macaroni and cheese. She was very outgoing, confident and was always there to provide support to anyone in need. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends. In addition to her mother, Paula of Gloucester, Monica is survived by her daughters, Janieka Jones and her partner Mike Michel of Salem and Gyana Kendrick of Salem, her sons, Johnston Jones and his fiancé Tanisha Figueroa of Salem and David L. Kendrick, Jr. and his partner Nicolette Verrochi of Salem, her 6 grandchildren, Divante, Maya, Jadalise, Damon, Tori and Khalani, her siblings, Lloyd Hartwell and his wife Mary of AZ, Paulette Hartwell of Lynn, Malcolm Hartwell and his wife Vincie of Gloucester, William Hartwell of Gloucester and Darrell Sherwood of Lima, Ohio, her many nieces, nephews and beloved grand dog Lola. She was predeceased by her father Malcolm and beloved brothers Bruce Hartwell, Frederick Hartwell and sister, Minnie Tocco.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service which will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem on Friday, April 19th at 7 P.M. Visiting hours prior to the service from 4 to 7 P.M. A celebration of Monica's life will be held at the Salem AOH, 104 Boston St., Salem following the service.
