Obituary

PEABODY - Mrs. Muriel M. Rancourt 92, of Peabody, beloved wife of the late Carl E. Rancourt, passed away on Friday, June 23rd, 2023 at Brooksby Village Continuing Care, with her daughter Karen by her side.

Born in Waterville, Maine, she was the daughter of the late, Arthur and Elaine (Champagne) Ouellette. She was raised and educated in Waterville and was a graduate of Waterville High School.

Muriel married her high school sweetheart Carl and together they embark on a 54-year journey. It started in Waterville, Maine and following the birth of their 6th child, they moved to Massachusetts, settling in Peabody. Muriel was the quintessential mom who cared for her family full time. She made sure her family had everything they needed, good food, support, guidance, and a warm and loving home. She was keenly aware of everything that went on around her, especially when it came to her children and her grandchildren's lives.

Muriel was devoted to her faith and was a long-time communicant of St. Adelaide's Church in West Peabody and a longtime CCD teacher passing on her passion for the church to the next generation.

Most notably, Muriel had an artistic spirit. Her hands were always busy, hooking rugs, embroidery, needlepoint, sewing clothes for family, knitting, weaving, macrame, calligraphy, and making jewelry. She loved to dance, with her favorite partner Carl, line dancing and doing the 2 step.  Muriel was also a published poet, penning her book of poems "Creation Speaks" which was well received adding to her list of many accomplishments. Muriel will be remembered for her inexhaustible energy, creativity, her quiet, peaceful nature, and that little sparkle in her eye that endeared her to many. She will be deeply missed.

Surviving Muriel are her daughters, Karen Reiss of North Reading, Susan Purcell of Reno, NV, Bruce Rancourt and his wife Kathleen of Marshfield, Peter Rancourt and his wife Barbara of Saugus, James Rancourt and his wife Cynthia of Blacksburg, VA, and Scott Rancourt and his wife Lisa of South Grafton, her 9 grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, Tara, Joshua, Caitlyn, Caleb, and Jessica Rancourt, and Tyler and Tiffany Reiss, her 7 great-grandchildren, Harper, Peyton, Shiloh, Tobias, James, Lillian and Aaron.
