PEABODY – Mrs. Nancy C. (Lyons) Burns, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 9th, 2023. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Beeman) Lyons. Nancy was the wife of the late Richard Burns, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Educated in Salem, Nancy graduated from Salem High School class of 1956. She was a member of the Red Hawks Girls Basketball team throughout her high school career, making it to state finals before graduating. After graduation, Nancy worked for North East Telephone and Holyoke Mutual Insurance Co prior to her retirement.
Fitness was important to Nancy, and she relished in activities throughout her life. She was a member of the IC Bowling League, and went swimming daily at the Salem YMCA. Faith was also a staple in her life, being a longtime member of the North Shore Community Baptist Church in Beverly Farms. When she wasn't on the move, Nancy enjoyed playing cribbage, working on her daily crosswords, and spending time with her beloved family.
Nancy is survived by her daughters; Jeanne Burns of Peabody, Sharon Lambert of Rochester, NH, and Amy Burns-Price of Salem, along with grandchildren; David, Bryanna, Caitlin, Rainey, and Tanis, great-grandchildren; Rowen, Ryden, and Rayla, and her siblings; Elizabeth Tremblay, William Lyons and his wife Jeanette, and James Lyons, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Mark Burns, granddaughter Stephanie Beaupre, son-in-law Chris Lambert, brother-in-law Robert Tremblay, and sister-in-law Ellen Lyons.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held in the North Shore Community Baptist Church, 9 Hart St., Beverly, on Monday October 16th at 12P.M. Burial is private. Assisting the family with arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM.
