DANVERS-Nancy L. (Leonard) Saviano, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and coach, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 18, 1940, in Salem, Massachusetts, Nancy Leonard was the daughter of the late Thomas and Frances (Hyland) Leonard. She grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem State College before building a life centered on family and a lifelong passion for tennis. She spent most of her life in Danvers, Massachusetts, where she and her husband, Aniello "Neil" Saviano, raised their family.
Nancy was an extraordinary tennis coach whose influence extended far beyond the tennis court. Throughout her coaching career at Salem High School, Danvers High School, and Bishop Fenwick High School, she inspired generations of young athletes through her unwavering encouragement and belief in every student's potential. Her commitment to young athletes continued as the founder of College Tennis Service, where she helped dozens of aspiring student-athletes achieve their dream of playing collegiate tennis. She believed that every student who wanted to play deserved the opportunity, and she opened the door to the game for countless young people whose lives were enriched by her encouragement.
Above all else, Nancy's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother whose kindness and unconditional love shaped the lives of those closest to her.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Neil; her children, Julie Saviano of Marblehead, Jeffrey (Lisa) Saviano of Wrentham, and Amy (Andrew) Gregory of Ipswich. She was the cherished grandmother of Luke Maltacea; Matthew, Caroline, and Natasha Saviano; and Jillian and Samuel Gregory. She was also the sister of the late Thomas M. Leonard.
Nancy will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
