Obituary

PEABODY – Mr. Neil F. Dunn, 88 of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Danvers, beloved husband of Marian (Bolger) Dunn, died peacefully, Tuesday, September 6 th , 2022 at his home with his loving wife by his side.

Born in Danvers, he was the son of the late Cornelius F. and Helena D. (Cashman) Dunn. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School, class of 1952. He continued his education at Boston College earning his Bachelors Degree in 1956 and his Master's Degree in 1958, both in Physics. He did post graduate studies at Boston University.

Mr. Dunn was a dedicated educator and professor. He began his teaching career at Burlington High School as a Physics Teacher from 1961 to 1967. He matriculated to Salem State College and was the State of Massachusetts's first ever computer programmer. He held this position from 1970 until 1975. He worked as a computer programmer and analyst at Boston University for 5 years and then taught at Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley and Framingham until the time of his retirement in the year 2000.

Neil was devoted to his catholic faith and attended Mass weekly. He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers and more recently a member of the Catholic community at Brooksby Village. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the N.E.A. A Ham Radio operator, he truly loved travelling with his wife. They visited places all over the globe, from Alaska to Germany, Newfoundland and Austria. They especially loved Hawaii and travelled to all of the Hawaiian Islands many times, creating great memories along the way. He had a passion for the opera and his beloved animals, especially his miniature poodles. Above all else, he was a devoted husband and uncle who will be deeply missed.

Neil is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Marian (Bolger) Dunn of Peabody, his sister-in-law, Frances Banerjee and her husband, Tridib of San Marino, CA, his niece, Joya Banerjee and nephew, Josh Banerjee.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass which will be held at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Conant St., Danvers, Thursday, Sept. 15 th at 11 A.M. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) DANVERS.
