IPSWICH - Norma Louise Peabody, 75, passed away in her home in Ipswich, Massachusetts, of natural causes on January 19, 2021. Norma was born on February 12, 1945, to Margaret Sophie (Mueller) George and Walter Albert George in Paterson, New Jersey. In 1952, she moved to Natick, Massachusetts, where she attended Natick High School and was a Rainbow Girl. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Nursing in 1965 and earned her B.S. in Nursing from Boston University in 1968, after which she worked in public health nursing and as a private duty nurse.

On September 7, 1968, Norma married Jonathan Peabody and moved to Topsfield, Massachusetts, where they lovingly restored their historic home, raised three sons, Christopher Colby, Stephen Douglas and Daniel Keith and were members of the Congregational Church of Topsfield. Norma was the consummate hostess and enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends in Topsfield and at their vacation homes in Florida and Maine. She was renowned for her organization and for maintaining her homes immaculately. Affectionately known as Mimi/Grammy, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jonathan. She is survived by her three sons and their families: Christopher and his wife Julie of North Reading; Stephen and his wife Aimee of Marblehead; Daniel and his wife Grace of Topsfield; and five grandchildren, Merina, George, Lorenzo, Abigail and Zachary; as well as her brother Richard George and his wife Carolyn and her sister Evelyn (George) Turcotte and her husband Gerard; and many nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Norma's Ceremony & Cocktail Reception will be held at the Mansion at Turner Hill, 3 Manor House Lane, Ipswich, MA on Saturday, September 18th from 3 to 6 P.M. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell – Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Norma's name to Homes for Our Troops at www.hfotusa.org.
