DURHAM, NH - Norman Nadeau, 93, of New Durham, New Hampshire, died at his home after a brief illness, on January 11, 2021. He was born in Lynn, MA, November 28, 1927, son of the late Joseph and Imelda Nadeau. After graduating from Lynn English High School, Norman joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Apprenticeship program and became a journeyman in 1949. He met and married Phyllis (McAskill) Nadeau and they celebrated their 69th Anniversary last July. During their marriage, the couple lived and raised their 8 children in Salem, MA.

Norman has been a proud member of the IBEW for 72 years, working mostly out of the Boston Local 103, but worked through many Locals in the United States and Canada, as necessary, including Valdez, Alaska on the Alaskan Pipeline, and New Brunswick, Canada.

When Norm's sons were young, they built a camp in New Hampshire together and upon retirement renovated the camp where he and Phyllis summered, splitting their time between homes in New Durham, NH and Islamorada, FL. The couple enjoyed numerous extended adventures as they traveled throughout North America and Canada in their Airstream. Some of their favorite trips were traveling the Alaskan Highway, revisiting and watching the development of Crazy Horse, and the night skies and local culture of Prince Edward Island.

Norman was an outdoorsman, a self-taught hobbyist, carving, and creating artful pieces with the reoccurring theme of wildlife. He was an avid fly fisherman, former hunter, bird/waterfowl watcher, and conservationist. He was a quiet philanthropist and led by example. He will be remembered lovingly by his family and close friends for his quiet, yet strong moral compass. A compass that will continue to guide, reassure, inspire, and comfort his family for generations to come. He leaves a legacy of integrity, where actions spoke louder than words, doing the "right thing" was a way of life, acceptance of all, unspoken sacrifice and patience, yet naturally balanced by a quick wit and a great sense of humor. This world is a better place because of the positive impact Norman had on anyone who was blessed to know him.

Norman will be deeply missed by his wife Phyllis (McAskill) Nadeau; children, Kathleen Nadeau, of Seal Beach, CA, John (Jack) Nadeau and his wife Stephanie, of Groveland, MA, Kenneth Nadeau and his wife Diane, of Georgetown, MA, Gerard (Gerry) Nadeau and his wife Brenda, of Georgetown, MA, Gary Nadeau and his wife Theresa, of New Durham, NH, Marcia Nadeau, of New Durham, NH, Maryanne (Nadeau) Ham and her husband Dana, of Georgetown, MA, Joseph and his wife Holly, of Jefferson, NH.

Norman cherished his fourteen grandchildren, Melissa (Nadeau) Gilbo, Jason Nadeau, John Nadeau, Jana Nadeau, David Nadeau, Jeremy Nadeau, Samantha (Nadeau) Kennedy, Gary Nadeau, Jr., Nicole Nadeau, Tyler (Tanner) Flores, Courtney Tanner, Ryan Ham, Kevin Ham, Britny (Kardas) Emery, as well as, fourteen great-great grandchildren.

Norman is survived by his beloved sister, Muriel (Nadeau) Melanson, married to the late Romeo, from Lynn, MA, and their children and families.

Norman is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn McAskill, Venice, FL, married to the late Charles McAskill; and many loving nieces and nephews. Norman is predeceased by his sister-in-law's, Lois McAskill, Joyce (McAskill) O'leary, and Marcia (McAskill) Brown.
