SALEM – Patricia Lee Martin, 73, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at her home in the Salem Willows, surrounded by the family she cherished so deeply. She was the beloved wife of Michael Martin, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Beverly, Patti was the daughter of the late Patricia Shrauger. Raised as an only child, she later joined the big, fun-loving Martin family. She was proud of her lineage in Salem, the Mallard and Stanchfield families which date back to the 1600’s.

Above all else, family was the cornerstone of Patti’s life. Early on, countless summer nights were spent in the Salem Willows with friends and Michael’s parents, both Marine veterans of World War II. Together, they listened to the timeless music of the era, especially the big-band sounds of Glenn Miller, while sharing laughter, jokes, and the beautiful scenery of the Willows. These joyful gatherings reflected Patti’s deep love of family, friendship, and the simple pleasure of being together. Her caring nature also extended to her many four-legged companions, especially the cats and dogs that made her home complete over the years. She even took in another family’s cat, Cooper, who loved her so much he never left.

Patti was also a trusted sounding board for many friends and family members. She had a remarkable ability to see through the fog and understand the reality of a situation, offering thoughtful guidance and more often than not, exactly the advice someone needed. She helped people regularly, always making time to listen and share her wisdom with honesty and care.

Patti’s warm and vibrant spirit made her a well-known presence in her local community. She was an active member of the Juniper Community Club in the Willows and spent many lively evenings playing darts with her team, ‘Spiro’s Heroes,’ at the Witches Brew Cafe on Derby Street, where she thoroughly enjoyed good company and great food. For 20 years, Patti enjoyed having a beer with her husband’s fishing buddies on Thursday nights a time which affectionately became known as “A Patti beer.”

In the late 1960s, Patti proudly considered herself a hippie. She enjoyed traveling around the country with close friends, including memorable trips to Florida and California to experience great music together. For several years, Patti and Michael organized annual bus trips to the King Richard’s Faire in Carver, Massachusetts. Friends joined them in taking in the medieval festivities, including jousting, beer, hearty legs of fowl, and plenty of laughter.

Professionally, Patti was a trailblazer, working as an engineering leader for over 30 years. Her career spanned decades of dedicated service at Gordon Engineering, remaining a steady leadership presence as the company evolved into Data Precision and eventually Analogic. Outside of work, she and her mother were avid collectors of antique furniture and barbie dolls. While she enjoyed a few memorable adventures abroad to London and Aruba, Patti was happiest exploring her own country and simply remaining close to the home and the family she adored.

Patti’s strong will and determination to fight gave her the last six years with her grandson Quinn, who she loved to buy an ice cream and the coolest new Legos. She listened happily to stories from his day to day adventures and was proud to be Grammy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Martin; her daughter, M.J. Martin and her partner Greg Caron; her two cherished grandchildren, Quinn and Harper Caron and the rest of the Martin clan.
