MIDDLETON - Mr. Paul C. Freeley, 88, of Middleton, MA. and Venice, FL, formerly of Danvers, beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Kelley) Freeley, passed away Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Patrick and Helen (Hughes) Freeley, he was raised and educated in Brighton and attended St. Columbkille School from Kindergarten through High School. Paul continued his education receiving his engineering degree from Coyne Electrical School.
Paul served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, worked for the MBTA as an Electrical Engineer for over 25 years. Prior to his tenure with the MBTA he had been employed by the Sylvania and Raytheon Corporations for several years. Paul had also been employed by Merchant Liquor's in Danvers for many years where he knew his customers by name and always greeted them with a smile and warm hello.
Known for his warm smile and love for entertainment, Paul cherished the company of his friends and family and his jovial nature made him the perfect Santa at many holiday gatherings. He had a passion for gardening, was an avid fan of board games, "Jeopardy" and enjoyed friendly competitive card games among family and friends. Paul took great pride in his Irish heritage, and he shared a special bond with his sister, Barbara who was truly his best friend. He traversed the globe, exploring different countries and regions across the United States. A passionate storyteller and lover of travel, Paul's zest for life and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew and loved him. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend whose greatest joy was his family. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed by them.
Paul is survived by his children, his sons, Michael Freeley and his wife, Nicole of Wellington, FL and Stephen Freeley and his wife, Ann of Bradenton, FL, his daughter, Laura Trupiano and her husband, Anthony of Middleton, his grandchildren, Katie, Michael and Makenna Freeley and Bryce Trupiano. Loving brother of Barbara (Freeley) Fitzpatrick of Brighton, and the late Edward Freeley, Joan Freeley, Patricia (Freeley) O'Brien and Eleanor (Freeley) Connors. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral which will be held from O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024 at 9 A.M., followed by his funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers at 10 A.M. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours on Monday, June 10th from 4 to 8 P.M.
