IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter L.
Furnari
January 15, 1939 – February 6, 2023
BEVERLY - Mr. Peter L. Furnari 84, of Beverly, beloved husband of Donna (Nickerson) Furnari, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Louis and Ada (Fox) Furnari. He attended Beverly High School and embarked on a 40-year career at the United Shoe Machinery Corporation where he served the company in a variety of positions over the years, most notably in the foundry. Well respected for his steadfast work ethic and his dedication to the company, he was often sought after for his experience and ability to adapt to different work environments.
An avid bird fancier, Peter was a longtime member of the Northeast Avicultural Society. Over the years he raised cockatiels, parakeets, and lovebirds. He raised fancy pigeons during his retirement and kept detailed records of his Birmingham roller pigeons, white homing pigeons, and fantail pigeons. Well known in the community for his hobby, the "pigeon man" offered white homing pigeon releases for events and hosted educational discussions on pigeon husbandry for the local school. Peter was also a skilled craftsman who enjoyed carpentry, lending his hand to many family members and created many pieces of furniture over the years. Peter also loved dancing with his wife and would be the first one on the dance floor and last to leave.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Peter loved his family first and foremost. He was a cheerful man with a wonderful sense of humor, his gregarious personality was contagious and endeared him to many. Peter will be forever remembered in the hearts of his loved ones and friends. He will be dearly missed by them and the countless lives he touched along the way.
Surviving Peter in addition to his loving wife, Donna, with whom he shared over 45 years of marriage are his sons, Adam W. Furnari and his wife, Andrea of Durham, NC and Jonathan L. Furnari and his wife, Sarah of Topsfield, his granddaughter, Aster Lynn Furnari of Durham, NC, his sister, Patricia V. Marcheterre of Beverly, and several nieces and nephews.
