PEABODY – Mrs. Philomena "Phyllis" (Cumiskey) Moraitis, 74 of Peabody, loving wife of the late Stavros Moraitis, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Beverly Hospital.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, Philomena was one of twelve children born to the late Michael and Kathleen (Reilly) Cumiskey. She was raised and educated in Ireland and immigrated to the United States in her twenties and started her adult life.

As a young woman, she met Stavros Moraitis and started her family. She devoted her early life to caring for her children, providing a warm, loving and nurturing home. Later in life as her children grew, she devoted her working career as a cook for the kitchen at Market Basket in Danvers where she was an efficient cook, known for her humor and big personality.

Phyllis loved her simple life, filled with laughter and love. She relished in the company of her grandchildren, supporting them in their many adventures and could often be found indulging in a good book. She was proud of her Irish roots and many favorite traditions that she honored with her family. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Katie Moraitis and her partner, Robert Williams of Haverhill and Gia Palmisano and her husband, Justin of Haverhill; grandchildren, Daniel Palmisano, Austin Palmisano, Stephen Williams and Brendan Williams all of Haverhill; her many siblings both in the US and Ireland and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and dear friends. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Stavros, Phyllis was pre-deceased by her daughter, Dimitra Moraitis of Peabody.
