PEABODY - Mrs. Phyllis M. (Osgood) Gonet, 92, of Peabody, beloved wife of the late John J. Gonet, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Brooksby Village in Peabody.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Laura (Peabody) Osgood. Raised and educated in Peabody she was a graduate of Peabody High School.

She met her future husband John J. Gonet while working at Sylvania in Danvers. They married in 1948 and had two children, Phillip and Jeffrey. Phyllis worked for a time at nursing homes on the North Shore and was a dedicated mother to her children. She and her husband also lived in Batavia, NY and Knoxville, TN. She returned to live in the Danvers area after her husband's death in 1997.

Known to her family and close friends as 'Dee-Dee', she loved to tell stories in particular about growing up with her three sisters and the places she lived. She had a profound sense of humor and enjoyed joking around. An avid golfer, Phyllis was a member of the Wenham and Thompson Country Clubs where she made many lifelong friends and memories. She was a member of the choir of the former Calvary Church of Danvers. She was a member of Grange for over 70 years and moved to Brooksby Village in 2007. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Brooksby assisted living facility for their care and kindness.

Phyllis is survived by her sons; Phillip Gonet and his wife Catherine of Springfield, IL and Jeffrey Gonet and his wife Angela Veale of County Cork Ireland; her nephew Bruce Wennerberg and his wife Susan of Danvers, her grandchildren Susan Gonet of Springfield, IL, Michael Gonet of Boston, Christopher (Heidi) Daly and Sean Daly of Springfield, IL and Ryan (Brittany) Daly of Washington, IL, her great-grandchildren Levi, Isaac, Isabella and MacKenzie Daly; her dear friend Anne Edwards and her beloved cat Pedro. She was predeceased by her husband John J. Gonet, her sisters Carolyn Hubbard, Anna Wennerberg, and Irene Green, and by her great-granddaughter Heather Gonet.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) Danvers, Tuesday, September 19th from 5 to 7 P.M. immediately followed by her funeral service which will be celebrated by The Rev. Marya DeCarlen at 7 P.M.. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis' memory can be made to the Heather N. Gonet Memorial Scholarship Fund with the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln, 205 S. 5th St., Suite 931, Springfield, IL 62701.
