PEABODY – Rafael Garcia, 84, of Peabody, beloved husband of Gilda (Pacheco) Garcia, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Advinia Care in Salem, surrounded by his loving family.

Rafael was born in the town of Tamboril, Dominican Republic, the son of the late Juan Pablo and Roselia (Peña) Garcia. He was raised with strong values of hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family—principles that guided him throughout his life. In his early years, Rafael worked in the peanut industry, first transporting peanuts throughout parts of the country and later serving as a quality inspector at a peanut processing plant, where he ensured high standards were met with care and precision.

Rafael met the love of his life, Gilda, in 1967. They were married in 1972 and made their home in Loma de Cabrera, Dominican Republic, where they welcomed their three children.

In 1983, Rafael immigrated to the United States, settling in Massachusetts with his wife. Together, they raised their family in the city of Peabody. Shortly after arriving in the U.S., Rafael worked in the leather industry before dedicating the remainder of his working years to the restaurant business.

Rafael spent many years in the restaurant industry, working 23 years at The Hardcover Restaurant and 13 years at TGI Fridays. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and unwavering commitment—embodying loyalty and pride in all that he did.

Rafael was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He was well known for his open-door home, where everyone was always welcome—whether for one of his legendary gatherings filled with music and dancing, or simply for a warm meal, heartfelt conversation, or words of encouragement. Outgoing by nature, Rafael cherished the camaraderie of his friends and enjoyed playing dominoes, shooting pool, fishing, grilling, or simply being present, even if he wasn’t in the game. No matter the moment, Rafael’s warmth and welcoming smile were ever-present.

Above all else, Rafael loved his family. They were always his greatest priority, and he worked tirelessly to ensure they were cared for and supported. He will be remembered for his generosity, deep devotion to family, and his joyful zest for life. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Gilda, Rafael is survived by his children, Windelfor Garcia and Danny Garcia, both of Peabody, and Yamirys Garcia of West Newbury; and his cherished granddaughter, Yasleen Garcia.
