MARBLEHEAD - Mrs. Rebecca (Dunn) Atkins 93, of Marblehead, beloved wife of the late Captain Stanley J. Atkins (MFD), died Monday, April 9, 2018 at Devereux House Nursing Home in Marblehead.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Coughlin) Dunn. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School in Salem.
An avid ballroom dancer and world traveler, Rebecca also enjoyed sunbathing, rollercoasters, movies, and sweets.
Rebecca is survived by her daughter Meredith Reardon (Peter) of Marblehead, her sons, Christopher D. Atkins (Barbara) of Clinton, Jeffrey Atkins (Kathy) of Jackson, Mississippi, and Alan Atkins of Marblehead, her five grandchildren, Max, Michael, and Campbell Atkins and Chelsey and Hayley Reardon, her sister Mary Louise McMahon of Seabrook, NH, her brother Edward Dunn of Salem and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: A private graveside service will be held in June at the Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Rebecca's memory to the Mosaic Program at the Devereux House Nursing Home, 39 Lafayette Street, Marblehead, MA 01945.
