IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard J.
Madore
January 31, 1936 – February 26, 2023
PEABODY - Mr. Richard J. Madore, 87, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, Georgetown, and Danvers, beloved husband of Louise (Walor) Madore, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2023 at Brooksby Village Continuing Care.
Born in Salem, he was the devoted son and only child of the late Wilfred and Irene (Demers) Madore. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of St. John Preparatory School in Danvers, Class of 1954. Richard continued his education at Northeastern University in Boston, earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering, as well as participating in their ROTC program, graduating Class of 1959.
Mr. Madore proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Reserve Signal Corps and was honorably discharged as a Commissioned Officer, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant in 1967.
Hardworking, with an eye for detail, Richard launched a long career as an Electrical Engineer working as a manager for several local companies, including Microwave Associates (M/A-Com), Raytheon, and Varian/CPI. During his career, he, along with two fellow engineers, created a Wave circuit which was patented in 1970. He retired from Varian/CPI in Beverly, where he worked most of his career, working on many advanced radar systems that are still in service today, from weather radar to weapons systems control radar.
Once he established his career and family, he returned to Northeastern and recruited new graduates through their Co-op Program to work at Varian. He also volunteered to work for the employee Credit Union and supported many employee parties and events. When he was old enough to retire, he gave up managing engineers full-time to focus part-time until 2013 on what he enjoyed most, advanced Radio Frequency engineering design and experiments. Active socially and civically, Richard was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Georgetown and later St. Richard's Parish in Danvers. He enjoyed Ballroom dancing with his favorite partner Louise. He loved the Boston sports teams, golfing, walking, traveling, and spending time with friends.
A caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, family always came first. He never missed an opportunity to support those he treasured most. He was a great role model, humble, kind, generous, and loving, who positively impacted those around him. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of his loved ones and deeply missed by them.
