IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard T.
Moore
May 4, 1926 – February 10, 2019
SALEM - Mr. Richard Thomas Moore, 92 of Salem, beloved husband of the late Bronislawa (Wolocko) Moore, passed away, Sunday February 10, 2019 at Pilgrim Rehabilitation in Peabody.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Leo and Josephine (Snell) Moore. He grew up one of four boys on Hardy Road in Swampscott. He graduated from Swampscott High School where he played Varsity football there. As a youth he spent his summers in North Hampton, NH at the family summer home. He loved the ocean, boating, playing tennis, and working with his brothers in the Arcade on Hampton Beach, owned by his father. There were lots of stories of cars with rumble seats and St. Bernard dogs riding along with him.
An honorably discharged veteran, Richard proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during WWII.
Upon his return from the service he proudly graduated from Bryant College School of Business in Smithfield, RI. With the assistance of his father, he and his brothers, Paul and Edward, together they opened Moore Brothers Sportswear in Beverly. They were very successful manufacturers of Ladies Sportswear and were one of the first companies to open a factory outlet store. At one time they had three manufacturing locations and seven outlet stores. The consummate businessman, Richard always had a business idea and even in his 90's would regale you with tales of his latest ideas.
The love of his life was Bronis Moore with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. They built and spent time at their home in North Hampton, NH, when not at their home on the bay in Salem, MA; they traveled extensively and enjoyed their life together, he was devoted to his faith, loved the Blessed Mother and saying the Rosary.
Richard is survived by his nieces, Bonnie Moore of Salisbury, Sue Moore of Tuftonboro, NH, Deborah Moore of North Andover and Jeanne Wolocko-Sacco of Salem, his nephews, Timothy Moore of Dover, NH and Mark Moore and his wife Mary of Concord, NH, his sister-in-law Shirley J. Moore of Dover, NH and several great and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Leo Moore Jr., Paul Moore and Edward Moore and uncle of the late Leo Moore III and Paul Moore Jr.
