HAVERHILL – Mr. Richard J. Ouellette, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at Baker-Katz Nursing Home. He was the beloved son of the late Leo and Stella (Decowski) Ouellette.

Raised and educated in Salem, Richard graduated from Salem High School in 1947 and later obtained his Associate's Degree in Electronic Technology from the Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston.

An honorably discharged veteran, Richard served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War in communications as a field radio operator.

After starting a family, Mr. Ouellette worked as a technician in early space shuttle research for AVCO Corporation. Later in life, Richard went on to own and operate Ship to Store Seafood Market in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he retired. Richard was known for his warm heart and adventurous spirit. He enjoyed the calmness of kayaking and fishing but loved the rush of skydiving and bungee jumping-one of which being the tallest jump in the United States. He loved to travel, some of his most memorable trips being to Greece and Egypt. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family. His life was full of love, adventure, and memories.

Richard is survived by his children; Pamela Ouellette Ross of Haverhill, Richard L. Ouellette and his wife, Laura Adams of Bedford, Kath Van Oeveren and her partner, John Romano of Salem, Kristine Higgins, and her husband, Thomas of Georgetown, and Michelle Ouelette and her partner, Paula Astl of Haverhill, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held graveside at St. Mary's Cemetery, North St., Salem on Wednesday, December, 13th at 11 A.M.
