KINGSTON – Mrs. Rita (LaRoche) Savickey, 78, of Kingston, formerly of Salem, beloved wife of Richard Savickey, died following a valiant battle with cancer with her beloved husband at her bedside on Friday, August 8th, 2025.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Ida (Boucher) LaRoche. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School as a member of the class of 1966.
Mrs. Savickey began her professional career with the former New England Telephone Company, having been associated with them until 1977. Rita and her husband Richard, started an antique business; buying and selling antiques at shows and expos throughout New England. Upon the foundation of her family, she focused her love, time and care to her household. She always supported and assisted her husband managing their income properties and their sons in all of their endeavors with steadfast love.
A long-time resident of the city of Salem, Rita and Richard enjoyed spending time at their weekend home "Delanos Wharf" located in Kingston, Mass. Together they spent several years restoring this historic property and eventually making it their fulltime residence. They also enjoyed spending their winters in Lighthouse Point, Florida for many years. Rita enjoyed spending her time cooking, cake decorating, sewing and always was the most gracious host at all of the family parties and holiday gatherings. Her heart was as beautiful as she was. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her vibrant and colorful spirit, matched with an ever-present smile, would light up every room. Rita and Richard were avid travelers. She fondly remembered the trips to Europe, travelling with the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company along with several Caribbean cruises and all of the social parties and receptions with this esteemed group. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will forever be remembered with love.
