Born on May 4, 1951 to Robert and Helen (Myers) Hegarty, Bob grew up in Peabody, Massachusetts. He attended St. John's Prep, graduating in 1969 and then attended Providence College. Bob met the love of his life, Fran (Centorino) in 1968. They were childhood sweethearts and married in 1973. Bob and Fran shared 51 beautiful married years together. During their marriage they enjoyed traveling to many locations across the country including San Francisco, Las Vegas, Virginia, Gettysburg and Philadelphia. During their travels they visited several Major League ballparks in Toronto, New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Florida. Their trips also took them across the pond to London and Paris.
Along with his wife, Bob is survived by his three sons, Bob Hegarty of Homosassa, FL, Sean Hegarty and Kim Hunt of Londonderry, NH and Adam Hegarty and his wife Danielle Hegarty of Lowell, MA.

Bob was an avid fan of the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. Bob was passionate about music and had an impressive record collection. This love of classic rock was passed on to his sons and grandchildren. Bob was also a prolific reader and a daily watcher of Jeopardy, proving himself nearly unbeatable (except by Fran).
