SALEM- Mr. Robert B. Eon Jr., 85 of Salem beloved husband of Norma (Ronan) Eon, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Salem he was the son of the late Robert Sr. and Jeannette (Jalbert) Eon. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School Class of 1958. Bob began his career at Atwood and Morrill Valve Company, working alongside his father for 11 years before joining Massachusetts Electric Company. Bob's tenure as a Meter Reader and later as a Foreman spanned over 29 years, concluding with his retirement in 1998. During this time, he made significant contributions to his union, serving as Union Steward, Treasurer, and President of Local 317 B.U.W., where he was honored as President of the Year by his peers.

Bob shared a lifelong love with his high school sweetheart, Norma, with whom he built a family, raising four children together. His greatest joy was the time spent with his family, actively engaging in the sports and activities of his sons, daughters and grandchildren. A devoted coach, Bob, instilled in young athletes the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and hard work, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he mentored.

His commitment to community extended beyond his family; he dedicated countless hours to coaching youth sports and played a vital role in the establishment of adult leagues in Salem. He played a pivotal role in the Salem Men's Recreational Touch Football League, leading the team to nine championships while serving as President. Additionally, he founded the Salem Men's Recreational Semi-Fast Pitch Softball League, nurturing its growth from 12 to 34 teams while serving as its sole president and commissioner. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.

Surviving Bob in addition to his wife Norma with whom he shared 65 years of marriage are his daughters, Linda Mann and her husband William of Fort Meyers, FL, Susan Eon, Robert "Eddie" Eon and Michael Eon all of Salem, his grandchildren, Karle and Kaylah Mann of Liverpool, NY, Cassidy Mann of AZ, Cameron Eon and his companion Mariah Perella of Tampa, FL  and Arielle Eon of Peabody, his great-grandson, William Karle "Trey" Mann III, his brother, Roger Eon of Peabody as well as his best friends the McHugh's and the Jones' and several nieces and nephews.
