Obituary

SALEM – Mr. Robert Gagnon of Salem, completed 81 trips around the sun then God took him.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Germaine and Gertrude Elizabeth (O'Brien) Gagnon. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1959. While in High School, Bobby excelled as an athlete. An outstanding football player, he dominated opponents on the gridiron as a member of the Salem Witches Varsity Football team. He still holds the record for most touchdowns scored in a single game (7). He also excelled as a member of the varsity Track team. His athletic prowess earned him a football scholarship to attend the University of Massachusetts.

A 3 rd generation French Canadian Carpenter, Mr. Gagnon was a builder of concrete walls for over 40 years.

A highly intelligent man, he enjoyed spending his time playing chess and reading.

Robert is survived by his children, Michael, John, and Timothy, Rebecca, Robert and Sarah, his sister, Patricia LeBlanc of Lynn and several nieces and nephews and his former wife, Carol A. Terry. He was the brother of the late Richard Gagnon.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held graveside at Wadsworth Cemetery, Summer St., Danvers, Wednesday, Oct. 5 th at 10 A.M.  Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM.
