BOXFORD - Robert L. Johnson, 99, of Boxford, beloved husband of Anna, went home to the Lord on Sunday, September 13th , surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he was the son of James and Cora (Janes) Johnson. He was raised in northwest Missouri, attended Rockport High School, served in the United States Navy and graduated from Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri in 1947. He had a long career in accounting and general management with The General Electric Company, Bunker Ramo Corporation and The Chelsea Clock Company.
He was a devoted resident of Boxford, whose life was defined by his unwavering love for his family, and commitment to serving his church and community. Serving others was central to his life.
He was an active member of the First Church of Boxford, where he generously gave of his time and talents. Over the years, he served on the Church Finance Board, welcomed congregants as an usher during services, and taught adult Sunday School. Whether a project was big or small, Bob was always ready to volunteer. He was invited to be on several boards including Bay State Health Care, The American Red Cross and AAIM Employer’s Association. His commitment to supporting others also extended to the Four-Mile Village Senior Living Community in Boxford, where he served with dedication, working to ensure a supportive environment for local seniors.
An avid lover of nature and gardening, Bob found great peace tending to his yard, feeding the birds and appreciating the outdoors. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, whom he loved unconditionally and supported in every way possible. His legacy of kindness, boundless generosity, and gentle spirit will be forever cherished by those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anna (Bucci) Johnson; his son, Chase Johnson and his wife Sharon, his daughters, Leslie Van Volkinburg and her husband Steve, Lori Bonfiglio, Marnie Gibeley and her husband Marc; his cherished 13 grandchildren, Kyle, Brent, Gregg, Liann, Nini, Caroline, Sam, Heather, Brianna, Michaela, Ryan, Nate, and Will; and 6 great grandchildren; and a wide circle of extended family, church members, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Dona Thacker.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, October 3rd at 11:00A.M. at the First Church of Boxford, 4 Georgetown Road, Boxford, followed by the graveside service at Boxford Village Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple Street (Route 62) Danvers, from 4-7 P.M.
